In 2004, the Central Valley Association of Realtors elected Larry Rumbeck to serve as President of the Board for 2006. In 1983, Larry obtained his California Real Estate License, and started with Endsley and Associates, then a very small firm in Turlock. Larry has been active in CAR for over ten years. In 1993, he was appointed as the Regional Chairperson for Region 7, and in 1995 was selected by CAR President, Ed Albers, to the Executive Committee. In 2003, he served on the CVAR Board of Directors as the Turlock Council Representative.
Larry was born in Montebello, CA in 1951 to Cecil and Virginia Rumbeck. His interest in houses started in his teens, when his father put Larry and friend Peter Klobucar to work cleaning up demolished homes that were in the way of new freeways being built in Los Angeles. He and Peter also drained and filled old septic tanks when they weren’t cleaning lots or surfing at Redondo Beach. He graduated California High School in 1969, and spent two years at Rio Honda Junior College. He moved to Turlock to attend California State Stanislaus. As CSS, Larry met his wife, Diane, and was a member of Theta Chi Fraternity’s Alpha class. He graduated in 1974 with a major in Psychology.
After college, Larry held a variety of jobs and owned three small businesses. After receiving his contractor’s license in 1978, he worked at two lumber yards, and built a number of houses in Turlock that are still standing! He and Diane also ran a small catering business. After working with Bob Endsley at Endsley & Associates for four years, Larry obtained his Broker’s license. During his tenure with Endsley & Associates, Larry was consistently one of Turlock’s top grossing agents, selling over $1 million in property for ten straight years. For is hard work, he was awarded the Realtor of the Year award in 1990. IN 1991, he was elected as President of the Turlock Chamber of Commerce, and also opened his own real estate firm, Rumbeck Realty, in 1993.
Larry has always had an interest in local politics, and was appointed to the Turlock Planning Commission by Mayor Curt Andre in 1993. After a year on the Planning Commission, Larry ran and won a seat on the Turlock City Council. He served on the Council until 1998. In 1996, Rumbeck Realty merged with Coldwell Banker Jim Pope Realty. Under Larry’s leadership the firm became known as Coldwell Banker Action Realty and grew from 15 agents in 1996 to over 30 agents in 2006. In February of this year, Coldwell Banker Action became part of Coldwell Banker Endsley & Associates, the leading real estate resource for home buyers and sellers throughout Turlock and the surrounding communities.
Since his move to Turlock over thirty years ago, Larry has been active in his community. He has been a member of the Turlock Exchange Club for 21 years, was a member of the PTA, is a nine gallon blood donor and is a life member on CSUS Alumni. He and Diane have been married for 32 years, and have two sons, Bret, 25, and Scott, 22. Larry enjoys traveling the country with Diane, a good 49er game, and refinishing antiques. Currently, Larry and Diane reside in Turlock with their dog, Ouzo.
